Chad has developed a set of criteria to determine whether something can be called a pizza. First, it must have a tomato based sauce. Second, it must have cheese. I don’t agree with his criteria, but at least this pizza matches his standards to avoid another heated debate over it. This Chicken Tikka Masala Pizza has a tomato yogurt base with chicken coated in a spiced marinade and topped with Mozzarella and cilantro. Chad really liked the chicken. I enjoyed the combination of flavors overall.
Compared to other pizzas, Chicken Tikka Masala Pizza takes a little more effort to put together. The chicken marinates in the spiced yogurt mixture for an hour before being cooked in the pan (you can also grill the chicken). Instead of just tomato sauce, the sauce for this pizza also includes yogurt, jalapeno, cumin, paprika, and garam masala for an Indian twist. I made a basic pizza dough for this recipe, but you can also use a pre-made crust to save time.
