Cioccolata Calda (Italian Hot Chocolate) with Orange Whipped Cream
A recipe for Cioccolata Calda (Italian Hot Chocolate)! This thick and creamy hot chocolate is topped with a light orange whipped cream.

- 4 ounces bittersweet chocolate at least 70%
- 1 1/2 cups whole milk divided
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 tablespoon orange zest
In a medium saucepan, combine chocolate and 1/2 cup of the milk over low heat. Stir often until melted.
Once the chocolate is melted and smooth, slowly whisk in remaining 1 cup milk. Remove about 2 tablespoons to a small bowl. Whisk the cornstarch into the small amount of liquid until dissolved. Pour into the saucepan with the sugar. Stir constantly until the chocolate thickens.
