Ingredients

French Toast Sticks:

  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch salt
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 4 thick slices white bread about 1 inch thick
  • Powdered sugar for serving
  • Maple syrup for serving

Maple Mascarpone Dipping Sauce:

  • 8 ounces Mascarpone
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon milk optional

Chocolate Caramel Dipping Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter room temperature
  • 1/4 cup caramel sauce
  • Pinch salt

Instructions

To make the French Toast Sticks:

  • Preheat oven to 350˚F. Line a large baking sheet with parchment or lightly grease.
  • In a wide bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, cream, vanilla, and pinch of salt.
  • In another wide bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon.
  • Cut each thick piece of bread into 4 long sticks. Briefly dip each stick into the egg mixture, allowing the excess to drip off, then coat in the cinnamon sugar. Place on the prepared baking sheet and repeat with remaining sticks, arranging them 1 inch apart.
  • Bake in preheated oven until beginning to turn golden, about 12 minutes, and flip and cook on the other side for an additional 12 minutes. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve with maple syrup or desired dipping sauces.

To make the maple mascarpone dipping sauce:

  • In a medium bowl, fold the maple syrup into the mascarpone until smooth and creamy. If desired, mix in a little milk to thin out the sauce. Serve immediately or refrigerate until needed.

The make the chocolate caramel dipping sauce:

  • In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream just until bubbles begin to form around the edges. Remove from heat and allow to cool for a minute before adding the chocolate. Allow to sit for 30 seconds to a minute before whisking to melt all the chocolate and create a smooth ganache.
  • Cut the butter into pieces and stir into the chocolate along with the caramel sauce and pinch of salt. Serve immediately with the French Toast Sticks or refrigerate until needed and heat gently before serving.
