Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • zest of 1 orange
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350˚F. Prepare two large baking sheets by lining with parchment or lightly greasing.
  • In a large bowl, beat together the butter, sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in egg, followed by the orange zest and vanilla extract. Slowly add in flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Fold in chocolate chips.
  • Place tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto prepared baking sheets about 3-4 inches apart. Bake until the cookies are golden brown on the bottom, about 10 minutes. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
