1 1/2cups(190 grams) all-purpose flour
1/4cup(27 grams) dark cocoa powder
3tablespoons(37 grams) packed light brown sugar
2teaspoonsbaking powder
1teaspoonbaking soda
1/2teaspoonsalt
3/4cup(177 milliliters) buttermilk
1/4cup(60 grams) plain yogurt
4tablespoons(60 grams) unsalted buttermelted and slightly cooled, plus more for brushing the waffle iron
2large eggs
1teaspoonvanilla extract
6ounces(170 grams) dark chocolatefinely chopped

Instructions
Preheat the waffle iron to high heat.
In a large bowl, combine the flour, cocoa powder, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Make a well in the center and add the buttermilk, yogurt, butter, eggs, and vanilla extract.
Gently mix until no streaks of flour remain.
Gently fold in the bittersweet chocolate.
Brush the heated waffle iron with butter. Add batter to the waffle iron, amount based on size of iron.
Heat until set and fluffy. Transfer to plate and repeat with remaining batter.
Serve immediately topped with whipped cream, strawberry preserves, cacao nibs, or your favorite toppings.
