Ingredients

  • 2 cups (470 milliliters) milk
  • 3 ounces (85 grams) white chocolate finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoons (4 grams) matcha green tea powder
  • 1/3 cup (80 milliliters) hot water not boiling
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Whipped cream or marshmallows for garnish
  • Additional matcha for sprinkling, optionally mixed with a little vanilla or powdered sugar for sweetness

Instructions

  • In a small saucepan, place milk over medium-low heat. Once steaming but not yet at a boil, remove from heat and add the white chocolate. Whisk until smooth.
  • Sift the matcha into a small bowl, pour in the hot water. Whisk until smooth and completely dissolved with no lumps. Whisk into the white hot chocolate, followed by the vanilla extract.
  • Serve immediately with whipped cream or marshmallows. If desired, sprinkle with a little more matcha.

Notes

For Hojicha Hot Chocolate- swap the matcha for equal parts Hojicha Powder. If desired, add a tablespoon or so of maple syrup and a pinch of salt in addition to the white chocolate, milk, and vanilla extract.
