Ingredients

  • 3 string cheese sticks
  • 9 thin pretzel sticks
  • 9 long chive leaves or sliced dark green leaves of green onions

Instructions

  • Cut each string cheese stick crosswise into 3 equal pieces. This should result in nine pieces in all.
  • In the top end of the cheese piece, use a wooden skewer or a small knife to gently make a hole the size of the pretzel, about 1/4 inch (6 millimeters) deep.
  • Use the scissors or a small knife to cut the bottom 2/3rds of each cheese piece into 3 strips. Turn the cheese to an uncut side and make three additional slices to create 9 strips along the bottom of the cheese- forming a shape similar to the frayed end of a broom.
  • Gently twist the pretzel stick into the hole at the top, being careful not to tear the cheese.
  • Tie a chive leaf around the top of the cheese piece, near the pretzel. Double tie if desired. Cut off the excess.
  • Serve immediately or refrigerate in an airtight container for up to a few hours.
