Ingredients
1block(8 ounces, 250 grams) firm tofu
4thin green onionsscallions
5ounces(125 grams) thinly sliced beef
For the simmering liquid:
2/3cup(160 milliliters) kombu dashi stock
2 1/2tablespoons(37 milliliters) dark soy sauceKoikuchi, regular soy sauce
2tablespoons(25 grams) raw sugar
1 1/2tablespoons(22 milliliters) sake
Instructions
Cut the tofu into 8 pieces. Slice the green onions into 3 inch (8 centimeter) diagonal pieces.
Put all the simmering liquid ingredients in a pan and bring to a boil over medium heat.
Add the tofu and simmer for about 4 minutes.
Add the beef and simmer for a further 3 minutes.
Add the green onions at the end, and simmer briefly.
Serve immediately or allow to cool slightly and serve with plain rice or as a snack while drinking.
