A recipe for Peanut Butter Pupsicles! Peanut butter is blended with banana and yogurt for a fun and refreshing dog-friendly treat.

We got a new dog! After (barely) settling into our Virginia home, we adopted a nearly 4 month old Pointer mix puppy from Lucky Dog Animal Rescue here in the DC area.

Her name is Olivia and she has become such a wonderful and energetic addition to our family.

To pair with Olivia’s introduction, the kids wanted to make homemade Peanut Butter Pupsicles!

Peanut Butter Pupsicles

We first came across the idea for these pupsicles a few years ago while reviewing the cookbook, For the Love of Popsicles. I adjusted a few things, but kept the three same basic ingredients- peanut butter, Greek yogurt, and banana.
They come together with just a few minutes of prep and since the recipe is no-bake, it was also a perfect one for the kids to assemble.
Simply blend everything in the blender until smooth, then transfer to silicone molds. Freeze the molds until the yogurt mixture is solid, about 3-4 hours to overnight, and serve straight from the freezer.
Notable Ingredients

These popsicles contain only Greek yogurt, plain creamy peanut butter, and a banana. Be mindful of the Greek yogurt and peanut butter in particular and check the ingredient list (and brand) before using.
For the yogurt, I use low-fat to non-fat Greek yogurt. Avoid higher fat and make sure it contains no xylitol. Greek yogurt has less lactose, but some dogs are unable to handle dairy at all (Riley definitely could not).
Test your dog’s tolerance level before giving too much of any new product.
For the peanut butter, I use plain, unsweetened store-bought creamy peanut butter containing only peanuts. If you are unsure, you can also make your own peanut butter. Culinary Hill has a recipe for Homemade Peanut Butter using only roasted peanuts.
A Few Peanut Butter Pupsicle Tips
These Peanut Butter Pupsicles are meant as a fun, in moderation treat, not an everyday snack.
Add enough water to help the mixture blend together. Two tablespoons (30 milliliters) was perfect for me, but the amount may vary based on your blender or food processor.
If you don’t have a blender or food processor, you can mash the banana until smooth, then mix with the yogurt and peanut butter until combined.
I used silicone molds to form the pupsicles. The size of the molds will determine the yield. We used a combination of smaller bite sized treats and larger paw/bone-shaped ones. If you do not have a mold, you can also pour the mixture into ice cube trays or paper cups.
If you want to make popsicles with actual sticks, avoid the wooden and plastic ones. Swap for edible carrot sticks or even dog treats.
Don’t overfill the molds. The mixture will expand a little as it freezes.
After filling, tap the molds on the counter to remove any excess air bubbles. If your mixture is thick, a few may still remain.
If you can’t get the frozen pupsicle out of the mold, run the silicone or mold part (don’t get the water in the yogurt) under warm water for a few seconds.
Serve these Peanut Butter Pupsicles immediately after removing from the freezer. They will melt quickly, especially if you use smaller molds. These are not the best option for on-the-go treats.
Once frozen, I usually transfer them to a freezer-safe bag for up to 2 months.
